Victor Szeri (Hungary)
Viktor Szeri is a freelancer performer and choreographer between Budapest and Vienna. In his multi-disciplinary pieces, the interplay of different art forms and visual solutions can be observed. His spontaneous and improvisational processes are motivated by a desire to express a mood or a feeling. Yet, dance always plays a crucial role in his work: for him, it is a language through which the imperfect, transient and vulnerable human body can break free of the constraints of social norms. His performances are visceral: blurring the boundaries between the stage and the auditorium, inviting us into intimate realities where the audience has an active role.
Szeri’s work has been presented internationally at venues such as Sophiensaele, Tanzhaus nrw, CNDB, and Trafó. His solo Fatigue won the Rudolf Lábán Prize in 2023 and was selected for Aerowaves Twenty24. He is a co-founder of the collective Hollow and organizer of the Under500 Festival.
